I just downloaded the RME USB Series Flash Tool to update my RME UFX. Everytime I try to open it, it doesn't. Does anyone know what the problem is? I am running Mac OS X 10.9.2 on a 2x2.66ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. Thanks

Thank You FolkFreak. You know, I looked behind the unit and did not see the USB port next to the Firewire port. I even googled pics of the UFX and never saw the USB port in the pic. My eyesight must be going or I'm getting old. LOL. Thanks for your help. Your reply made me look at the back of the unit for a second time.

I had the same issue: the flash update tool did not want to open at all, thought the USB connections seemed to be alright (because I could play Mac OS sounds, iTunes, etc...). But I could not synchronise TotalMix FX nor open the USB driver utility.

The issue was only the I had previously switched my UFX in class-compliant mode in order to make it work with my iPad 2. When I switched off the class compliant mode, everything ran smoothly, the flash update tool ran without any issue.

I think you have to install the old Edison drivers first. Emlid DOCS seemed to have removed that information which leaves users with older Reach products with no longer supported Emlid chips at a loss.

Hi @Charlie_Robinson, I have just been through the process of flashing my old reach modules to firmware 26 on a win10 machine. To get USB-to-PC connection I needed to disable driver signatures and then install EdisonDriverSetup1.2.1 as per this thread Flashing Reach RS - Win10
The flashing tool then found the module and completed the update without issue.

This tool is currently used to flash bootloaders onto MicroSD cards or eMMC modules exported as USB Flash drives.

Replace BOARD_MODEL with a model from ./lft.sh b-list
Replace BLOCK_DEVICE with a device from ./lft.sh dev-list

I have the aml-s905x-cc board. There is only one main device showing (mmcblk1) as my sd disk. When I try to flash, it says the the device is a not a valid target. Just a thought here and stupid question:

There are multiple buttons and switches on most boards. The button is for entering BootROM mode for very advanced vendor specific programming and recover. The switch (if present) is for enabling/disabling onboard UEFI BIOS.

I was a bit confused by your details, after reading a few times, I think I understand what you are trying to do. You are using a custom board, not NXP EVB, and it has 2 flash memory devices connected via QSPI. Your board is also setup to use the Serial RCON, which means the configuration comes from the value programmed to EEPROM (as is an option with the NXP EVB). We already have a script for this to change the value, probably you already know of this:

my request is that if the tool is supporting S32G, we should mention it in somewhere. like the user guide in the folder "C:\NXP\S32DS.3.4\S32DS\tools\S32FlashTool\doc", we only mentioned S32S247TV and S32V234, not mentioning S32G at all. though we do have another txt file in the same folder "supported S32G devices" mentioned briefly the S32G rev1.0 rev 2.0 and 4 family members supported. can we include those info into same user guide?

And flashing stopped with an error. Later i reflashed my device with earler version of MFT, but ALL data was LOST. I mean ALL INTERNAL MEMORY WAS ERASED. And internal sdcard is become only 9.7 Gb capacty (was 11.4).

I use Dell venue 8, I don't bother with this useless tool, I just use fastboot directly, to change size of partitions, edit partition.tbl to desired size, My dell system was set at 1024, which is too small when I use my cwm recovery to backup and restore system will fault out as system is too big to go back on 1GB partition, so choice is remove some junk from system or increase system partition size.

Once you partition and flash everything, boot to cwm recovery and resize partitions, use resize on cache, data, system, you need to umount cache first, cache may not need but try anyway, before reboot remount cache.

While some of what you say maybe true, I can't help but smile, you do know the only reason this thread exists is cause the tool failed? Had the tool preformed 100% correctly this thread wouldn't exist, if OP had just used fastboot like I posted above this thread again wouldn't exist.

So while you may think this tool is great, I don't to each our own, I am also waiting and for a response that I know will never happen, from intel, on this tool, would love to see them tell the OP to do almost exactly what I posted above.

I am releasing my first product using a dual core STM32H745. Our board manufacturer is using Segger J-Flash to load our application hex files. The process for flashing our released firmware is to load a Segger project setup for the M4 core and our supplied hex file for the M4 core and program that memory address range. Then repeat with a Segger M7 core project and our supplied M7 core hex file.

Problem is that frequently I get a board that has only one core programmed which of course makes the board not fully functional. Am I going about this the hard way? Is it normal to combine the M4 core hex file and M7 core hex fie outputs into one and program the flash memory with a combined single pass? Or is programming a dual core just a two step process and this will get better after we have built some more of them? My compiler is IAR if that makes any difference.

Thanks @Tesla DeLorean, combined seems to be working fine. The Segger software forces you to pick the target core, and the M7 selection has the M4 flash range disabled by default. But after you go into options -> project settings -> flash, pick both flash banks and uncheck disable flash bank this addresses my concern.

Note that $WS_DIR$ is an IAR keyword for the path of the workspace which is where I put the bat file. Passing the workspace directory into the bat and then immediately changing directory to it makes everything work no matter what working directory you have. I used a bat file because IAR only gives you one post build action and I need to merge the hex file and also convert hex to srec.

EDIT: As I noticed that only the upgrade button was enabled, I updated the printer from 1.2.7 to 1.3.1 and it worked fine, I did this just to test because what I want is to do a downgrade, but the downgrade button still not enabled.

Good to see you again, We were talking about a problem in which I could not press the upgrade or downgrade buttons, where you updated to version 1.91, and now I can push the upgrade button but the downgrade button still not available, I tried doing an upgrade and it worked fine , but I still don't have the downgrade button.

It's easy. Your type of printer is quite old and uses an old flashing routine. In this case, the "Upgade Button" is used for upgrade and downgrade. At the moment I don't have such printer here, so I can't test it. But you can simply try this.

I have tried several ways to do it, the first time I couldn't do a downgrade so I did an upgrade from 1.2.7 to 1.3.1 and it did fine, (I did this just to test), today I tried again and just I was able to download to version 1.2.7 by pressing the upgrade button, but I can't download to lower versions than 1.2.7, the machine tries to update itself when I select a previous version (1.2.0 for example) and give it upgrade button, but on the printer's display it says UPDATING FAIL after a few seconds.

Hi I recently had a Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D printer I would like to know which is the best firmware to put I have this in the photo I realized that for ABS material the bed temperature is 70 C is that of the extruder and 220C

I had used this software tool some time back to test . I think it locks the phone after flashing - not sure about it. This is the one unfortunate scenario where it helps to have a windows PC nearby with MiFlash installed

I am not saying you are wrong - sorry if I was not clear in my post. I was also able to flash the ROM with the tool - what I wanted to know is if it provided you an option to keep the device unlocked. I remember it had locked my phone after the flashing and I had to again run adb to unlock it.

I have a Samsung laptop (Galaxy Book), and am trying to install the new firmware update via Samsung Update. I keep getting an error message 'Fail: Flash error. Flash tool reported error (103). Please check log file.' I have no idea what this means, but I've tried the update several times over several days, and got the same error message. Can anyone help / advise? (I have updated to Windows 11, if that makes a difference.) Thank you.

We recommend that you disable any antivirus or security software on your computer before installing Reach Firmware Flash Tool. Such programs may delete important files that the tool needs to work correctly.

If your Flash tool version is 1.7.1 or older, to update to the latest version you will need to add the new GPG key. Run sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 90F3927E0416B765 command in the terminal.

Make sure you have enough disk space. Reach Firmware Flash Tool creates 2 folders: one to download the image and another one to unpack it. Once you close the Flasher tool, the folder with the unpacked image will be deleted.
