Timestamps in the searched tables

I am planning to use the pg_search in an application and have one question on tsvectors.

My reading of the documentation makes me believe that the tsvector column will be written every time the table is indexed.

That is not a problem by itself if that update DIDN't update the timestamp ..

We do use the updated_at timestamp (RAILS) to track old records.

I guess I could try and find out, but it would be better not to go on the wrong path to start with!

Can someone shed some light on this?
