Suggestion for Thesis Discussion

Hi,

Hope you are all fine.

Through a discussion, it seems that having some sessions in which
people (all of us) can
gather up and exchange comments about each others' thesis would be
very practical.

Therefore, some suggestions are:
1- we can have these sessions every 2 week.
2- you can read and give comment about specific thesis regarding your
interest or
you can contribute to all or as many as you want.
3- session hold on Thursday morning around 11 till 14.
4- session can be started from 10th February 2011.

NOTE: if we assign dates and times it is difficult to change it later
so please be careful about
what you are suggesting.

So please inform group what is your idea about that.

Hej,

I think this is the very good idea. The proposed time is possible for
me, too. Just one problem, where and how to access our current state
of work. Any ideas? I do not know if it is possible to use blackoard
for this.

I think I can review and help improve several others (especially the
ones connected to knowledge management and artificial intelligence).
Anyway, do not hesitate to ask me for help! I will do my best to be a
good discussion partner ;-)

... I was wondering how to share the drafts (more or less developed,
depending on our individual progress) of our theses.
I think the different progress won't be any problem, but if any of us
may contribute to several others it would be nice to have a single
place, where all latest drafts can be find, wouldn't it? Otherwise we
have to ask others to contribute and sending them the papers. But I
like to read and discuss just out of interest in other topics and
work. So what do you think? How is your regular procedure for such
purposes?

Hi all again, Saturday is not bad too but I think that Friday night mostly there are some parties and Saturday morning and noon probably are not good times. Saturday afternoon and evening are mostly fixed with party again :)

about reading other papers, really I cannot guaranty to have enough time to participate in reading other papers in different topics and discuss but I can read my classmates works and comment them if I could and attend to these sessions to give and get advise from eachother.

i aggree on it.thursday fits best for me.however,i can be outside of
sweden in coming days.Is it possible to participate via skype ?
another thing is about sarah's comments.i guess she wants to use a
paltform like blackboard in case everybody can see everything;and
access everything.i guess it is not possible.but i have brilliant
idea.everybody can upload her or his draft here and create a mesage
box here..so other people can comment on it.i guess that is all we
gonna do.right ?

Hey Guys,

Thank you for this idea. 

Im not sure if I could be helpful. Cause I dont have energy to read even my paper and articles, so I'll probably not be able to read yours. 

Plus, we have tried these kind of meetings before and after 1 meeting not work out. So, I've doubts about it and not wanna wait for others at the library alone for 1-2 hours as I experienced before.

I think it is time to do something more practical.

I read all suggestions and therefore came up with following

ideas.

Date are scheduled with respect to exam and assignments dates and

also specific deadlines for thesis.

Notes:

1- How to be prepared: these sessions will be conducted to share your ideas or questions

about thesis. It is not required to read other people’s work. However, if somebody looks for

specific comments on specific thing, she/he can upload it to Google group and ask for that

before sessions. So others can read it and discuss it during the sessions.

2- VERY IMPORTANT: session times and dates will not be changed. DO NOT ask for

that, because it is difficult to schedule them. So try to adjust your plans with this schedule

if you are intended to present.

hey guys! sorry for replying late. i think it's vey good idea to discuss more:-)! however, scheduled discussions may make me feel a little pressure since i'll feel quite sorry if sometimes i've to be late or absent.

 

i just simply read through all the emails, so i didn't get how to share the files/papers. and i'll read the emails to understand it. i've two questions that if we start it, is it better to come as a routine for every time or we can participate when we've time? and if is better to finish reading all the others' papers beforehand or we can begin reading when we sit together?

 

and if i can't come, i'll still be happy to help improving ur papers in other ways:-). we can communicate a lot via emails or other methods. /best regards chen
