Instructions for installing Dirt Lockers can be found in the official Installation Instructions and Best Practices guide that is emailed to the customer after purchase. Step-by-step instructions and accompanying videos can also be found on the installation tab.
Please be aware that our custom-made Dirt Lockers and J Hooks are shipped separately via Fed Ex, which may result in staggered delivery dates. Domestic orders typically arrive within one to two weeks. For your convenience, all orders are shipped in boxes weighing no more than 50 lbs each. The boxes are designed to hold up to 100 small, 35 medium, or 25 large Dirt Lockers, or 10-40 J Hooks.
International shipping typically takes up to 14 business days, but delivery times may vary. Please allow 3-5 business days for us to process, manufacture, and package your order. Factors such as shipping times to the destination country, customs procedures, and the delivery route to your home may affect the shipping duration. Additionally, please note that shipping fees are calculated during checkout and include upfront taxes and duties. We recommend that international customers consider sourcing their own metal rebar hooks locally to reduce shipping costs.
We accept returns on all unused products in their original packaging within 14 days of delivery. Partial bulk order returns will be subject to regular pricing and deducted from your refund. Promotional items included in your original order must also be returned or will be subject to regular retail pricing when computing your refund. Shipping fees, along with a $15 processing fee, will be deducted from your total refund. To request a refund, please email us with your order number, product description, and quantity to be returned. You will receive an email confirmation and instructions. Please allow 7 business days from the time we receive your return for it to be processed. If you have received an incorrect item, please contact us and give us the opportunity to correct our error.
We also offer discounted pricing for bulk orders in packs of 25 (1 pack of 25) and 100 Dirt Lockers (4 packs of 25), financing options through Klarna, and free shipping on orders over $500 in the continental USA. As we are a small family-owned business using 100% recycled plastic, our manufacturing costs are a lot higher than if we used virgin plastic, but we keep our prices as low as possible for you, the customer, to encourage our collective environmental impact. Each Dirt Locker purchased saves the equivalent of 13 plastic milk jugs from entering our oceans and landfills! Our hope is to offer customers an environmentally and budget friendly DIY solution compared to inefficient and expensive alternatives.
**PLEASE BE AWARE** Do not use any unsolicited Coupon Codes or purchase any Dirt Locker product outside our website or Etsy Shop as there are several sites falsely advertising Dirt Locker. We are the ONLY distributor.
With Dirt Locker, you can get as creative as you want designing your system to fit the needs of your slope or your imagination! You have the freedom to connect the units and rows to fit your individual needs.
As of now, we do not provide installations as our product is meant to be DIY. Some customers opt to hire their own contractor and arrange their own installation. However, we are hoping to offer these services in the future so stay tuned. In the meantime, we are happy to talk with your contractor and ensure they have all the information to complete your project. We also recommend waiting until you have all the materials on site before scheduling or coordinating your installation date as estimated delivery times are not guaranteed by shipping carriers.
You do not need to clear any dead vegetation on your hillside prior to installation, but any alive, green weeds or grass will deplete the nitrogen in the soil. You can spot spray the weeds with straight white vinegar solution (1 gallon vinegar, 1 cup table salt, 1 tablespoon of dish detergent in a spray bottle) and wait until they are killed and completely dried out before install. You can also use the cardboard from the packaging to lay on top of any grass you wish to kill naturally. Then, feel free to compost the cardboard in your garden to add beneficial bacteria to the soil for increased microbial activity which in turn improves soil health, increases worm activity and promotes plant growth.
In order for the Dirt Locker system to work effectively, the plants need to have the ability to grow their roots down into the hillside, therefore preventing future erosion. Any material besides the natural dirt on the hillside, will prevent the plants from rooting. However, for cells that you are designating for steps, you can use a landscaping fabric either on the bottom of the cell, or on top of the soil prior to filing your step with stones, gravel or a stepping stone.
We recommend disconnecting the rows from the system to accommodate any uneven terrain, bends or steep slopes as to not add any extra pressure on the center slot causing a misshapen Dirt Locker to form. You do not want a "V" or wavy shape. If this occurs during installation, be sure to review the chart via the Installation PDF to ensure you have the right Dirt Locker size and width, then remove the row tab from the center slot, and secure it to the hillside with a j hook. This will allow you to transition around a corner or curve by disconnecting each "network", or row, from the row above it to prevent distortion. It is the roundness, or "C" shape that give Dirt Lockers their strength. Keep in mind, if you have a varying slope that requires both the medium and large Dirt Locker sizes, they are interconnectable.
The same application applies to slopes over 36 as to eliminate the added force from the row above and secure the row with additional j hooks. That said, you might want to have a few extra j hooks on hand, and depending on the scale of your project, potentially 30-50% more.
A motorized bicycle (moped) is defined by law as a pedal bicycle with a helper motor, electric or gas-powered, capable of a maximum speed of no more than 25 miles per hour on a flat surface. A moped has a maximum displacement of less than 50 cubic centimeters (cc)(no more than 1.5 brake horsepower).
If a vehicle meets all the conditions as defined by law (see above) it may be registered as a moped. Vehicles without pedals that are less than 50 ccs cannot be registered as mopeds; rather, they must be registered as motorcycles, regardless of engine size.
*If you are under age 18 and only operate an ATV or dirt bike at licensed special events, you are exempt from the safety education course. You are also exempt if the ATV or dirt bike is used on public lands or waters or across a public highway as an incident to or in the actual performance of the operations of a farm that is adjacent to the public land and or water or public highway upon which the vehicle is being operated.
An agricultural license (Class G) allows individuals between 16 and 17 years old to operate only those vehicles registered for farm use when the driver and vehicle are actively engaged in farming-related activities. A basic driver license (Class D) can also be used to operate farming vehicles.
Anyone involved in land development, design, review, permitting, construction, monitoring, inspection, or any land-disturbing activity in Georgia must meet education requirements and be certified by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission program developed in consultation with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division and the Stakeholder Advisory Board. Resources for education and certification are found on these pages.
The Commission will require all individuals to submit a Checklist for Verification of Lawful Presence within the United States (checklist), along with one of three different affidavits from which the applicant must choose. This will provide the basis for his or her lawful presence in the United States and a legible photocopy of one of the 16 secure and verifiable documents listed as defined by O.C.G.A. 50-36-2.
Documentation may be submitted to the Commission via mail, prior to attending a course or at the certification/re-certification course. All Commission Approved Trainers will be Public Notaries. Individuals who elect to take an online re-certification course must complete and submit documentation to the Commission via mail.
An individual may attend a certification or re-certification course prior to having their citizenship verified. However, in the event that citizenship cannot be verified, the individual must understand that certification/re-certification will not be granted and the course fee will not be refunded.
