I am little confused by the documentation on Scalding github page. README.md file is recommending cloning master while getting started guide is showing instruction to clone develop branch which is a few months old. If someone is starting a project right now with Scalding 0.9.0, is it better to clone master or develop?

Work with develop is my recommendation.

0.8.5 will be released tomorrow (which is pretty much what is in develop now) and then we will actually focus on 0.9.0 (which will have a few minor binary incompatible changes: remove some deprecated methods, change some of the implicit resolution).
