Rick Ash one of the original members of CASCADE who now lives in Cali has reached the final 4 of a pro-am copetition. golden road brewing co. If he wins he will get to brew it on the pro equipment and have it served in the brew pub. He will also be entered into the gabf competition. This was a mystery hop comp. Mystery hop was motueka. He brewed a French/Belgian saison. Winner will be decided in June.

Thanks for the shout out Jon!  I'm super pumped for this comp.  I will be brewing with the head brewer on their MoreBeer pilot sculpture.  There will be a private tasting/judging party at the brewery where the winner will be announced.  Also, the winner's beer will be entered into the GABF Pro/Am comp.  Wish me luck guys!

I will be sending a couple bottles for you guys to taste at the next meeting.  I am also going to try to send you guys some CA and other west coast beers!  I will start another thread to start a list of beers you guys would like to try.

If anyone is interested, here's the recipe:

Congrats Rick, that is very impressive...I must admit I am totally ignorant to that hop variety, but will have to read about it now.  Best of luck to you!

...and yes, Russian River beers would be awesome.  Also, do you have a PayPal account?  I believe I owe you some $$$.

Did you mean 6 gal at end of boil, you said 7, with 5.5 in to the fermenter.

That 3711 French Saison yeast is nice, don't you think?  Much less testy with temperature than the standard saison yeasts.

Please describe Motueka?  How'd you like it?
