We finally got the jars! So last night we filled them up with jam. We used Ball's canning book for the recipe and techniques.

I feel like something went a bit wrong somewhere though. The recipe specifically said six 8oz jars. It made exactly four. We used a liquid measuring device for the then solid plums, but we couldn't have been that far off. Oh well, we made two batches so we've still got a good quantity of jam. I'll probably make another batch this weekend and fill up the rest of the jars. Goodness knows we have enough plums.

I've canned before but this was the first time I made a jam. It was pretty amazing to watch the plums go from the above, through the below, to actual jam. It's like we turned them in to jelly!
