We got word from the lender that, other than one minor point with the appraisal, that he's working out, we're done with underwriting. Basically, that means the loan has been approved and we're good to go! We're getting a house!
Unfortunately, interest rates just spiked. And we hadn't locked the rate in yet. We could have, but we didn't. Now I'm all sad. We could have had 4.875, and now we're at 5.135 or something. Everybody, my lender included, is surprised by this much movement. The FED is apparently talking of forcing the rates back down again, but maybe not because it could weaken the dollar and AAaaAAAaaAAH! Why didn't I lock in the rate!?!?
Oh well, we're talking about 50 bucks a month or something. Not nothing, but not a deal breaker either. Sigh.
