Our wonderful neighbors invited us out to go watch the fireworks. We fully intented to take them up on their kind offer. But at the last minute we had to back out.

A new sun,
over our house
The reason is pretty simple. We're in the middle of one of the
worst droughts in recorded (Seattle Area) history, we have a wooden roof, and there are explosives
everywhere.Audio of tonight sounds like audo from a war. I'm not even kidding.

just listen
I mean, I expected some fireworks in the hood. It's the Fourth of July. It's a Navy town. These things go on. I didn't expect the volume, or the proximity. There must be $10,000 worth of fireworks going off in a four block radius.
In fact, there are so many explosives going off there has been a constant fog at ground level for the past hour or so. The half hour I spent hosing downt the roof earlier seems so inadequate.
It's kinda too bad. If I wasn't such a nervous wreck from worrying over my shiny but flammable house I'd be having a ball right now.
