Asalamalaykum,

Tuesday Dec 11th, 2007 - Eid Announcement

- Cary Masjid will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on Friday December 21, 2007
as Tuesday December 11th is the 30th day of Zul-Qidah and Wednesday
December 12th is the 1st of the blessed month of Zul-Hijjah. This is
based on Cary Masjid's adopted policy of physical sighting of the moon
with the naked eye supported by the astronomical data for possibility
for moonsighting in North America.

There were no positive sightings of the moon by the Cary Masjid or
from other areas throughout North America as reported by Chicago Hilal
and the Shariah Board. (links on our website www.carymasjid.org ).

- Inshallah we will provide details of Eid Prayer for the morning of
Friday December 21, 2007 later this week.

- The first 10 days of Zul-Hijjah are very blessed and fasting on the
9th of Zul-Hijjah, Day of Arafat, has significance and in a Hadith,
the Prophet (upon him be peace) told the believers to fast on the
ninth of Zul-Hijjah, stating that the fast of that day is an atonement
for the sins of the previous and coming years. Some suggested acts of
worship, Nawafil Ibadath, and their reward can be found on our
website.

- EID-UL-ADHA Celebration!
The North American Foundation of Islamic Services (NAFIS) is hosting
an open to all public Celebration of Eid Al-Adha at the Cary Masjid.
This celebration will be on Saturday, December 22, 2007 from 3pm -
8pm, regardless of when Eid Al-Adha will be. Inshallah there will be
Amdah, Competition, Prizes, Refreshments, and more! See website for
details.

Jazakallahkheir
