You can upload just about anything you want in a book format (or
individual images), and they will print a copy whenever anyone orders
one. Their prices are very reasonable, I thought. For example, a
50-page photo book, 8 1/2 x 11, Perfect binding, is only about
$13.00! If you offer them for sale, you add whatever your royalty
will be; Lulu adds a very reasonable 20% commission. I've not seen
the output from this publisher, but I've seen work from similiar
low-run printers, and the quality is amazing. They have a wide
variety of page sizes, binding styles and design templates.
I'm having a show at artspace in December; I think I'll put a book
together and have a couple of copies available for sale. If I run
out, I'll have a card with the address where folks can order one.
Talk about a classy self-promotion piece!
If anyone has had any experience with lulu.com or other on-demand
printers, please let us know!
