March 30 meet at the Museum, March 31 meet at Prairie Ridge
Minimum Age: 18
Fee: $80 ($70 for Friends of the Museum)
Learn how to make artistically pleasing and technically excellent
images of our natural environment. During this workshop you will
learn how to design an image by taking into account light,
composition, pose, color and background. We will explore digital
exposure theory, metering, shutter speed, f- stops, depth-of-field,
image sharpness as well as equipment selection. The workshop includes
a mix of presentations, in-depth discussions and in-the-field
instruction.
Participants must have a digital SLR camera (with interchangeable
lenses) and have basic familiarity with its operation. Users must be
familiar with both the programmed modes as well as the more advanced
modes of the camera, such as Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority,
Manual, Etc. Please plan on bringing your own bag lunch.
About the Presenter:
Juan A. Pons was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and
currently lives in Pittsboro, N.C. With over 5 years of digital
photography experience, Juan has been recognized for the
considerable skill he has developed in digital photography and now
runs a business offering services to other photographers in digital
photography technology, particularly in color management and
printing.
As a nature and wildlife photographer, Juan is a strong supporter of
wildlife and natural habitat conservation and is a member of several
conservation organizations. Although much of his photography is
focused on native wildlife in North Carolina, Juan and his family
also travel frequently to other regions of interest, such as Puerto
Rico, New England,
Yellowstone, and the Southwestern states. Juan never ceases to be
amazed by the natural subjects he photographs and hopes that sharing
his photographs will inspire others to appreciate and respect
natural life.
