I do not know of one in Cary. Kramden Institute is in Durham near 55/54

They DO NOT take printers.
They also accept volunteers and there is no tech expertise required. Check out their website.
They have lots of cleaning and disassembly chores. They also have some assembly chore that requires minimal expertise.
They will teach you all you need to know.
Laptops, desktops, monitors, keyboards, mice accepted. Not sure about other peripherals like routers, HDDs, etc.
I am stock piling some items for the next time I go that way. It isn't worth the run for one item.
