.H.P. Lovecraft is considered a father of the modern horror genre and his works considered classics. Unfortunately, he was also, just, ridiculously racist, even by the standards of the time. Because I actually like him as an author in spite of hating him as a human being, I decided to make a list of his stories in pretty much random order with the relevant warnings so people who want to experience these classics without being triggered/taken out of the story/annoyed by his shitty attitudes on pretty much every subject can do so. This list will be updated whenever I feel like it and at completely random intervals.

I can only imagine that this is a very early rough draft of something Lovecraft wrote when he was ten, that his estate found in his papers after he died, and that, for some unknown reason, they decided to publish.

Hello guys. I recently updated my gameversion to 1.18.7 and my mod list is long. After a while I got this strange error on my local server log. Can anyone tell me what this is about?

If no one has a clue, I will turn in a detailed report by about tomorrow or so.

I think this is a mod conflict with "In Dappled Groves". Do you have that mod?

Anyways...you could edit the modconfig file with a text editor - for Windows users, look here:

C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\VintagestoryData\ModConfig\primitivesurvival118.json

And change TreeHollowsUpdateMinutes to 999999

This will stop the error at least, until I get around to addressing the issue.

I guessed that too, because the error occurred first after an update for in dappled groves. What's strange to me is, that the error is still there after rolling back to the previous version. But since the log said "primitive survival", I thought I'd ask you first.

And is it possible that the problem is the tree hollows of the non-vanilla trees I get from wildcraft trees (if they are even generated, I don't know)? In that case, would it help to prevent them from spawning?

This mod only adds tree hollows to some vanilla tree types, so it probably isn't a wildcraft trees issue. I say probably because this mod DOES add wildcraft tree seeds to tree hollows if that mod is installed. I will need to check that mod as well to ensure that the author hasn't renamed any of their item codes - something that is unlikely but possible. In any case, the error log doesn't seem to be pointing to that scenario.

Just wanted to start off saying this is outright one of the best mods for game, hands down. I love playing with it on any world I make and will love to see where else it goes in the future. And speaking of the future for the mod I wanted to ask about the various relic related items (the blocks and the blood) that are still creative mode only and if you have anything to say about their possible additions to the mod proper in the future? As well as if you have other ideas for any new relic related items, structures, or rituals to add. It's always a fun surprise to find one of the relics in my traps and I wanted to see if anything more like that may be coming?

Gosh thanks Bean Man! I've tried a few times to dive back into those creative only blocks and create something interesting, but seem to lack the creativity and/or motivation to go much further in that direction. My interest in modding ebbs and flows and it's proving to be a challenge to keep up with what I've made available thus far.

One day perhaps...

I've furrowed the field with source blocks at every intersection. The moisture levels of the farmland tiles seem to be vacillating: When I first plowed them, they went straight to zero. They seem to then accumulate moisture up to 100%... and then go to 0% again. Is this because of the freezing temperatures, or something else, or am I facing a glitch that will kill my crops when I start planting in a few ingame weeks?

Hmmm. A lot of mods and not much to go on in the log file I'm afraid, so any supporting info might help.

First and foremost, can this crash be recreated, or was this just a one off? If it just happened once I can think of a few reasons why such a thing might happen.

If it's an ongoing issue, does it happen when you're just walking around ,or perhaps when are you interacting with a tree hollow?

Quick question if I may. Does this mod affect the spawn of Horsetail, and berries, or is it just my seed/biom. I've started a new game with this mod, and I'm about 3 hours in, and haven't seen any yet. Thanks.

Here's the thing - I'm a huge fan of Vintage Story and especially its wilderness survival mode. I also have a keen interest in real life primitive survival. This mod is my attempt to meld the two to provide you with a more realistic early game experience, and is largely inspired by extreme survival shows like Naked & Afraid. Primitive Survival also adds plenty of end-game type elements to entertain you later on.

The in-game handbook contains more than enough information to get you started. Look under Guides - Primitive Survival: Quick Start Guide. A couple of items that are essential for this mod are stakes (used for primitive fences, weir traps and snares) and cordage (used to make limb lines, trotlines, fish baskets, snares, and monkey bridges).

You'll get a lot of new proteins from this mod. For even more ways to cook them up, be sure to check out l33tmann's highly rated and hugely popular A Culinary Artillery and Expanded Foods!

PIT TRAPS

While not a trap on its own, a handful of sticks can be sharpened at both ends to create a bundle of wood spikes, which can then be pushed into soft ground to create a pit of spikes. They're a little painful to walk across, and even more dangerous to fall on.

To make a fully fledged pit trap, use these same wood spikes but also push them into the sides of the top edge of your pit. Note: You can weave them together to span large areas. The next step is to add three layers of dry grass or some other plant based materials to seal up the surface. Pay attention to what it says in the hud. It walks you through the process. The final step is to add a layer of dirt or sand to the top. With proper planning, your pit cover will be 100% camouflaged which could be interesting in pvp play.
