Greetings fellow cartoolers!

I am doing microstate analysis on resting state EEG-fMRI and i have run in to a bit of difficulties in trying to calculate the duration of each microstate. Do I just look at the results from the fitting (the gfp) and "count" ? or can this somehow be extracted from the generated .csv file? I was hoping someone here has done it and can share how they did with me!

Also, I want to compare the templates between my two groups, I tried loading the template files (.ep) in pairs to be compared and chose unpaired TANOVA since it's two different groups, but I don't seem to be getting any results. I tried comparing the exact same maps (from the same group) just to see if the problem was with the maps or if it was in how I am doing it and I again got no results so I'm thinking that I must not be doing it correctly.

Any help in either of these matters would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hello Natasha,

In order to calculate the mean duration of each map you will need a bit of matlab computing using the .seg file output of the fitting, as you need to average for how long it was present each time it appeared.

Regarding the TANOVA, what I did is to export all individual templates in one big .ep for each group template, and then compared them between groups.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

Miralena

Hello Miralena,

Thank you so much for your reply, I was able to get the TANOVA and I know what I need to do in Matlab. However my problem is my script, I am still very much a Matlab novice but even so I didn't think it would be hard to make one that would take the average for each microstate (as named 1,2,3,4).

Perhaps you could let me look at the script you used and I can try and figure out from there what I have done wrong?
Thank you!

Regards

Natasha
