Hi, been silent on the developers list for a long time but I'm CCing it in. There's some information on generating JSON versions of standard OSM XML data here: https://github.com/jywarren/cartagen/issues/103

Hope that's helpful!

Hey Jeff

I am trying out your cartagen. I just need your help for creating the .json file. I am trying to put the maps of Basel in the Background, but it doesn't work.
I created my basel.json file with the JOSM Editor. I change the code at the "static_map_layers" in the index.html and I changed the coordinates (view sector), but it shows just "loading map data" and nothing happens. Then i compared your example files(.js) from rome with my .json files from Basel, but it doesn't seems that those were the same fromat. Can you tell me, what I have to do, to create those .js files?

Please have a look at my two files.

Thank you for your help
Regards Jan Sterren, sry for my bad english...

well, surprise surprise, i just borked cartagen.org, but...

the answer to your question is that you can modify the values on line 447 of https://github.com/jywarren/cartagen/blob/master/src/mapping/geohash.js

a value of 0.0005 will stop it from reducing detail upon zoom.

i was trying to add a configuration value for this (as it ought to be) but am now late for an appointment :-(

i'll fix it later! good luck.

Jeff

Hi

Thx for your help, This works perfectly fine.
Another questions: Can I delet the function, who makes the objects invisible when I zoom ot? It would be perfect, when the buildings doesnt disappear when I zoom out of the Map?

Thx
Jan

Fixed and committed new change whereby you can modify this number in the Config statement: https://github.com/jywarren/cartagen/commit/6b8202b70766ab3013ded1b9b6f910b1fa0f7426

You should be able to do something like:

Cartagen.setup({
            detail_index: 0.0005,
