Hey, everybody,

Jeremy and I had a great meeting this week with Kesh Ladduwahetty, the Chair of DC for Democracy (the Washington, DC chapter of Democracy for America.  (For more info about DC for D, go here.)  Jeremy and I think that forming working relationships with DFA chapters around issues will extend our reach and our base, while maintaining our independence.

Right now, DFA is focused primarily on health care, and they're asking for help next week for the upcoming national day of rallies and lobbying for health care reform (June 25th).  All of you who agree with Howard Dean's position on health care (for a statement of his position, go here), please consider being part of this event. We are down to the wire on health care reform.   If you can spare even a couple of hours, please come out next Wednesday!

Here's the event announcement:

Dr. Howard Dean is a leading voice for healthcare reform and the importance of the public option. This Thursday, June 25th, he will join a national rally and lobby day for healthcare reform, as Congress gears up to pass legislation in the next few weeks.   This will be a full day of rallies, speeches by health care advocates, town hall meetings, and lobbying visits with members of Congress.  With thousands of people visiting Capitol Hill, we will need a lot of volunteers to help organize this major day of action, and DC area residents can make a real difference.

The June 25th lobby day is organized by Health Care America Now (HCAN) coalition, which includes Democracy for America (DFA).   Please join DC for Democracy in signing up to be a volunteer host at these events:

Kick-off Rally: Wednesday evening, June 24th, 6 - 9PM at Freedom Plaza
Rally & Lobby Day: Thursday, June 25th 9AM - 4PM on Capitol Hill; if you can't join us for the whole day, you can still help for 2 or 3 hours or whatever you can offer.
