BY THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON STATEHOOD AND SELF-DETERMINATION
THE HISTORY OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND ITS IMPACT ON THE ATTAINMENT OF VOTING RIGHTS AND STATEHOOD
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 2009, 1:00 P.M.

Councilmember Michael A. Brown, Chair of the Special Committee on Statehood and Self-Determination, announces a Public Hearing regarding the history of the District of Columbia and its impact on the attainment of voting rights and statehood.  The Public Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:00 pm in Room 412 of the John A.Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
The hearing will consist of a viewing of two short film documentaries, a panel of District of Columbia historians, and a panel of young scholars from area public schools.  The witness list is closed, however written statements for the record are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. Written statements should be submitted to Ms. Amy Bellanca, Legislative Counsel to Councilmember Michael A. Brown, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Suite 406,Washington, DC, 20004, no later than 5:30 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2009.
