Councilmember Michael A. Brown, Chair of the Special Committee on Statehood and Self-Determination, announces a Public Oversight Hearing regarding the political and constitutional considerations for achieving statehood and full self-determination for the District of Columbia. The Public Oversight Hearing is scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2009 at 6:30 pm in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
The hearing will consist of panels featuring current and former Members of Congress, present and past members of the DC Shadow Congressional delegation, and constitutional law scholars.
The witness list is closed, however written statements for the record are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. All statements for the record should be submitted to Ms. Cynthia Brock-Smith, Secretary to the Council, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Suite 5, Washington, DC, 20004, no later than 5:30 pm on Monday, June 15, 2009.
