At 1 p.m., as wind gusted between 35 and 45 mph, one unidentified man decided to try his luck diving off the pier at Simonton Beach - as waves rolled over the pier and into the street, according to police. The man kept diving, over and over, until finally an undertow took hold of him and sucked him out. He couldn't get back in, no matter how hard he swam. Finally, a wave rolled over him, and sent him crashing inland, ultimately planting him back on the beach.
"Thank you, God,'' the man said over and over."
That was from a florida report on Rita. If I hear of a Texan doing something that stupid when that hits us I will be really upset. Or they aren't real Texans. Have more since than that. Don't stick your head in an open lions mouth, it just ain't smart.
