Handling S3 upload failures

I want to know the best way to handle S3 upload failures:
1) If S3 is down
2) If i get erros like (Excon::Errors::SocketError) "Connection timed
out - connect(2)"
Does Carrierwave retry to upload the file or do I need to store the
file temporarily somewhere and keep retrying?
