Huddle Up: NFL PLAY 60 Training Camp This Weekend
Saturday, Jan. 27 | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
 
Lace up those cleats and get hyped! The Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum's sixth annual NFL PLAY 60 Training Camp is this Saturday. 
 
Admission is FREE for kids 17 and under, sponsored by DICK's Sporting Goods.
 
Kids of all ages can get active in a museum full of football fun, with activities including:
  • A mini-NFL Combine that will test kids' speed in the 40-yard dash, assess their accuracy passing a football, and challenge their agility in a series of quick-hitting drills; 
  • Instruction from Mike Logan, former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back and member of the Super Bowl XL championship team;
  • Agility and quickness drills led by Jamal Woodson, Oakland Catholic basketball and SLAAM coach;
  • Passing drills led by Chris Edmonds from the Athletic Trauma Unit;
  • Fun activities with Let's Move! Pittsburgh;
  • Healthy cooking demos with local chefs;
  • A touchdown dance contest;
  • And the chance to win exciting prizes, courtesy of DICK's Sporting Goods!
Plus, visitors can explore the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum and all History Center exhibitions throughout the event.
 
This History Center event is presented in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL PLAY 60, the National Football League's health and fitness campaign to encourage young fans to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.

Celebrating Black History Month
Friday, Feb. 2 | 6 - 8 p.m. 
   
The History Center's African American Program will kick off its Black History Month programming with its fourth annual Black History Month Lecture on Friday, Feb. 2.
 
Dr. Tera W. Hunter, professor in the History Department and the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University, will discuss her new book, "Bound in Wedlock: Slave and Free Black Marriage in the Nineteenth Century." It is the first comprehensive history of marriage among African Americans in the 19th century.

You're Invited to an Exclusive Film Screening 
Wednesday, Feb. 7 | 6 - 8:30 p.m. 
   
In honor of Black History Month, Smithsonian Channel, Comcast, and the History Center cordially invite you to an exclusive screening of the new documentary, "The Lost Tapes: Malcolm X."
 
"The Lost Tapes: Malcolm X" documentary captures the rise and fall of Malcolm X, told through newscasts, speeches, and rarely-seen archival footage.
 
Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
 
Prior to the screening there will be a reception in the Great Hall and an opportunity to self-tour of the History Center's award-winning From Slavery to Freedom exhibition from 6 - 6:45 p.m.

Toast to Health & History With Your Closest Gal Pals 
Tuesday, Feb. 13 | 6:30 - 9 p.m. 
   
Join the History Center, in partnership with Pittsburgh Yoga Events, for a fresh and fun yoga experience the day before Valentine's Day. Sarah Reed-Lieb, certified vinyasa yoga instructor, will lead you and your friends through a 60-minute all-levels flow, with a special emphasis on heart-opening poses.
 
Following the class, enjoy a complimentary glass of prosecco, warm chocolate chip cookies, and after-hours access to the brand new American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition exhibition. If that isn't enough, Athleta will be on hand to raffle off some must-have merchandise!

Get Your Tickets for History Uncorked  
Friday, Feb. 16 | 7 - 11 p.m. 
 
History Uncorked, Pittsburgh's premier party for young professionals, is back for its milestone 20th year.
 
Presented by BNY Mellon, this year's Roaring '20s-themed event is inspired by the History Center's upcoming exhibition, American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition.
 
The event will offer Uncorked favorites, including a silent auction, fifth floor dance party with DJ Mad Maxx, great food from Pittsburgh's hottest local eateries, and delicious drinks from Wigle Whiskey and Penn Brewery. New activities this year include a pop-up escape room courtesy of The Imaginarium, live entertainment by The Boilermaker Jazz Band, a '20s-themed photo booth, and tours of the new American Spirits exhibit.
