Opening This Weekend at the Fort Pitt Museum
Nat Youngblood's Pittsburgh | Opens Friday, April 28

Explore the life and legacy of 20th century Pittsburgh artist Nat Youngblood with the Fort Pitt Museum's new exhibit, Nat Youngblood's Pittsburgh.

Beginning this Friday, April 28, the Fort Pitt Museum is displaying a collection of Youngblood's artwork that includes his military service abroad during WWII, his 35-year career with The Pittsburgh Press, and his retired years in both Western Pennsylvania and New Mexico.

Join the Fort Pitt Museum in honoring Nat Youngblood, an artist whose legacy in Western Pennsylvania illustration endures to this day.

Preserving Your Digital Photographs Workshop

Have you lost treasured digital photos of a family gathering because your computer crashed? Ever wonder if you'll be able to access the digital photos you took at a loved one's wedding 10 years from now?
 
Join the History Center's Detre Library & Archives to discover the step-by-step measures that you can take to manage and preserve the priceless digital photos on your phone, digital camera, computer, and social media accounts. You'll learn practical strategies for locating, selecting, captioning, organizing, and storing your digital photos so that you can enjoy them for years to come.
 
This workshop is free and open to the public but does not include access to museum exhibitions. Please register online

Alia Musica Pittsburgh & Quince Ensemble Perform Berio's Laborintus II  
Friday, May 5 | Starts at 7:30 p.m. | Heinz History Center

The culmination of Quince Ensemble's residency at Alia Musica Pittsburgh is a performance of Luciano Berio's 1965 masterwork for three solo voices, 8-speaker choir, 17 instruments, and electronic sounds with texts by Edoardo Sanguineti for the 700th anniversary of Dante's birth. Join the History Center's Italian American Program for the Pittsburgh premiere of this landmark cantata.

The Quince Residency is supported in part by a grant from The Opportunity Fund. Alia Musica Pittsburgh's 2017 events are supported by an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The performance of "Laborintus II" is supported by a Small Arts Initiative from The Heinz Endowments.

Tickets to the event are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, students, military, and History Center members.

Help kick off the season and discover 16,000 years, all in one day. Visit the Meadowcroft Rockshelter. Step inside a wigwam and throw a prehistoric spear. Watch a blacksmith forge red-hot iron and learn to spin wool into yarn.
