Conservation on the island of Carriacou is some thing close to many of
our hearts.
Over many years sand mining have left many of our coarse line
vulnerable to the elements the is something the government needs to
address with great urgency.
In the area of Tibeau especially where the flooding of the cemetery
needs to be re-enforced, in Mt. Pleasant the area from the Fort to the
Well is in need of land filling, the quantity of water that settles in
that area may one day break the sand bank letting water from the sea.
In Sabazan I can remember when grass grew across the road along the
sea side, these projects are more important than talks of extending of
the airport.
I do understand that the airport needs a bit of upgrading ifoe example
lights for emergency but not necessary for commercial purposes.
I even had one kayak saying 747 will be landing on the island soon,
I'm trying to work where exactly it will stop.
Securing our coarse line and farming should be a government priority
I hope they'll adhere to these urgent request.

In the present economical climate, should taking measures to
regenerate economy.
One argument that's is regularly put forward is that there's no money
in the treasury, that argument is an unacceptable joke.
One of the things that the government can do is to introduce a housing
tax which will raise revenue for public works to be carried out.
The tax can be placed on houses exceeding say three bed rooms or a
defined volume, this will encourage the building of more bungalow type
houses and regenerate the private sector.
If people living abroad hoping to return to build homes, knowing these
limits will encourage them to stay with those limits.
Those that go above will also be encourage to rent out rooms which
will bring in personal revenue.
In Carriacou the problem cause by sand mining would not be as
devastating if these laws were in place many years ago.
