HuaweiB310 and B315 are both typical stationary router like Huawei B593 Router, but the shape has a little difference. They both have four LED indicators on the front for Power, Mode, WiFi, Signal, and LAN. Huawei Logo is on the front in the middle. On the back, usually, there are 4 LAN ports(one for WAN/LAN), but some variant models of the Huawei B310 or B315 may reduce the LAN ports to 2 or 1. It depends. Some models may also have the telephone port or USB.2.0 port. So if you are looking for a router with multiple interfaces for Ethernet, you must take care of this. The LAN ports may not be enough for standard four. And the telephone port and USB 2.0 port may be missing.

As time goes, Huawei is always presenting new 4G WiFi routers to the public. Most of the end-users may know the old router model but may be unfamiliar with the new LTE router. Many people may know the Huawei Router B315, but may not know the latest Huawei B525 router, which is similar to the Huawei E5186 Specs. If they would buy a Huawei 4G WiFi router, you may ask what the difference between Huawei B525 and B315 LTE CPE is, and which one is better between the Huawei B315 and B525?

Huawei Router B315 and B525 are both in the shape of a traditional home router. They look similar from the appearance. On the front, there are few LED indicators for power, mode, WiFi, LAN, and signal. The Huawei logo is in the middle of the front face. On the back, there are 4 LAN ports(One for LAN/WAN), One RJ11 for telephone, One USB 2.0 port for data sharing and Reset hole listed on a line. However, Huawei B315 has many variant models; the interfaces may vary on some variant models. There are two SMA-female connectors for external antenna, if you would buy Huawei B315s antenna, remember the connector should be SMA-male. The connectors are covered by a small cap.

The power and WPS buttons of the two routers are located at the top edge side. The SIM card slot of Huawei B525 router is located at the bottom of the device, where the label is also there with some important information such as model number, IMEI & S/N number, SSID, WiFi key, WPS pin, FCC ID, Manufacturer, and Made-in-China. The label of Huawei B315 is also at the bottom, however, the SIM card slot is on the side of the body. The Huawei B525 uses Micro-SIM size while the B315s uses standard SIM size.

From the appearance, you may not get the key point about the difference between the two router because they are very similar in the appearance. Then we have to check the specs of Huawei B525 router and B315 LTE CPE for reference:

From the specs of the two routers in the table, we can see the Huawei 4G Router B525 supports LTE Category 6 networks with carrier aggregation, so it could achieve download speed up to 300Mbps, which is almost the double of that of B315 Router. This should be the key difference between the two routers. As we can see, the Huawei B525 has only two variant models: Huawei B525s-23a and B525s-65a. Huawei B315 has more variant models such as B315s-936, B315s-22, B315s-607 and B315s-608 etc.. The variant models support different LTE frequency bands for various network carriers worldwide. So if you will use the Huawei router with rare LTE frequency bands, you may not get support from Huawei B525 currently. However, if the Huawei B525 could support the LTE bands from your network providers, buy a Huawei B525 router would be right. Of course, the advanced Huawei B525 with CA would be with a higher price than B315, but not too much. And the LTE-A router Huawei B525 would definitely provide faster speed than B315 with same network conditions.

The power button and WPS button of Huawei B315 are on the top side of the router. And the label for product detail is on the bottom side of the body. The SIM card slot of Huawei B315 is on the back side of the body while Huawei B618 locates the SIM card slot at the bottom. The Huawei B618 has the label at the bottom too with the WPS button.

From the specs, we can see the Huawei B618s-22d WiFi router is far more advanced than Huawei B315 router technically. It could peak download speed up to 600mbps, which is almost 4 times than that of B315 Router. It has advanced WLAN feature 802.11ac with dual-band, while up to 64 devices could access the internet when connected with B618 LTE CPE. The advantage of Huawei B315 is the multiple variant models for various LTE frequency bands while Huawei B618s-22d is mainly for Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and Middle East area. Huawei B315 could be used in more wide areas but you must select the specific right model. Another advantage is that Huawei B315 is not as expensive as Huawei B618. Because Huawei B618 is with many advanced LTE technologies, the price is higher.

The Huawei B315s-22 is a 4G router for family use. Like its predecessor Huawei B593s-22, it allows sharing the 4G connection in WIFI with a valid SIM card from a network operator, and of course, the SIM card must has a data plan. Thus, in places where ADSL is of poor quality but 4G is available, it would be necessary to replace the ADSL and use the new Huawei B315s-22 with new contract from 4G network provider.

The Huawei B315s-22 is an excellent 4G router. The main difference with the HUAWEI B593s-22 is that it has better 4G reception, it only has one RJ11 port, it does not support the SIP protocol and it does not allow the router to use only the 4G. Thus, if the 4G/LTE signal is not very powerful, it switches itself in 3G or worse in 2G. However, you can connect an external 4G/LTE antenna to change this situation. Huawei released a new LTE CPE B315, compact stationary LTE-router, which supports LTE cat.4 (up to 150 Mbit/s), and focused on the use of the house or in a small office. Technically, nothing is outstanding, but it works well and does what it should do.

Supporting LTE cat.4, a theoretical maximum data rate of 150 Mbit/s for downlink and the data up to 50 Mbit/s for uplink could be achieved. Wi-Fi standard is 802.11b/g/n. Wi-Fi range includes only 2.4GHz, No 5GHz. The maximum number of connections for Wi-Fi is 32 users.

Huawei B315 LTE Router supports network standards: GSM 900/1800 MHz, UMTS 900/2100 MHz, LTE-FDD 800/1800/2600 MHz, LTE-TDD in the range of 2600 MHz. There is no back-up battery. SIM-card is normal, miniSIM format. On the back, there are four LAN ports, one universal LAN/WAN. USB port is for connecting a printer or USB-drive. And there is RJ11 jack for connecting a wired phone. They write about the support VoIP and VoLTE on the next version of the software, CSFB support is present and works fine. The package box of Huawei B315 includes quite compact router, user Manual, an Ethernet cable, external power supply to the output current of 1 A. Once again, external antenna not included, and you will have to buy yourself if necessary. There are two colors available: black and white. The body of B315 LTE CPE is made of plastic but feel good if hold it in hand.

As already written, all the connectors and other features are hidden on the back panel, including slots for external antennas, which in most cases you do not need and they are covered by a removable cap.

The settings control of the Huawei B315 router could be done via the Web-interface ( address) and mobile application. The WEB-interface, everything is pretty standard, and user can select the network mode manually, there is 4G-LTE, 3G and 2G variants provided. On the main page and in the status bar (top right) shows the type of Internet connection, which is currently running a router and distributes online consumers.

Work with external antennas can be flexibly adjusted using one external + internal, two external or two internal. By default, the internal antenna, so just connect external will not change anything; do not forget to change the settings to external in the WEB-interface.
