Last week, we began our look at the presidency with an overview of the creation of the office of the President, the term of office and qualifications, and the seven roles played by the president.

Which of the president's seven roles do you believe is the most important?  With your answer, please explain why it's the most important.

REMEMBER: You must make two visits to Google Groups this week - your first visit should be a post responding to my question by 11:59PM Wednesday; your second visit should be a post responding to a classmate (be sure to mention their name in your response) sometime between 12:00AM Thursday and 11:59PM Sunday. Back-to-back posts on the same day will result in a grade deduction.

I think that the Economic Leader is the most important its states that "The President makes plans to make sure the federal government’s budget is as profitable as possible. These plans can include creating jobs or asking Congress to raise or lower federal taxes." If he is not in hold of how U.S spends money or how citizen make money to live and to survive, what will be the point of being president, I feel that a president MUST know how to lead and know how to create decent jobs for certified people. With out taxes coming in nothing is actually getting paid off and with out money alone or food or access to water how do you expect to have a country. No people no country . In that being, your just the president of your own family and if that's the case we shouldn't have a president who can't specifically provide jobs. My ninth grade world history teacher told me that the amount of money first made is the same amount until this very day, and im not really sure how that works because I thought they print money out everyday or something like that, but bottom line is that the president has a role of provide jobs and i feel that is the most important.

I think that the Chief Guardian of the Economy is the most important role of the President. Our economy has been pretty poor lately and I feel that the President should try his best to control it or help it run smoothly.

I think chief guardian of economy is because That seems as if it has been the main focus for the current president and also the past presidents for years to come. Unemployment and taxes are huge factors in modern day United States, and both of those fall under chief guardian of the economy role.

I believe "cheif of state" is the most important role as president. The president sets an example for all Americans and "stands for the highest values and ideals of the country."

I think the most important role of presidency is Chief Executive. The reason why is because you have to enforce laws, that government officials must follow. Without setting laws everything would be crazy.

I beileve that the most important role of the president would have to be cheif executive. I think this because that is when the president gets a chance to enforce laws that the government must follow. This is important because where would this country be without laws? Everything would be hectic and the country wouldnt be able to function right.

I think the most important role is Chief Executive. The president has to decide how to enforce the laws and he gets to choose the people that make up the executive branch. That is the most important because if the president doesn't make sure that the laws are enforced who will?

Chief of State is the most important. We need a president that sets a good example to the people he leads. And he represents national unity overshadowing political differences.

I think the most important role of the president is "Economic Leader" because what is a country without an economy? We would have no trade, and a currency that would be worthless to the rest of the world. It's important because I think without it America would fall indefinitely.

I believe the president's most important job is Chief Executive, because even though the economy and how he represents the country are both important, laws are what makes our country work, and they can make or break practically anything and everything.  Therefore, someone who can enforce the laws well is of great importance.

I agree with Larontay. America would basically fall apart.

I agree with Troy. Without laws it would be hard to do anything.

I feels you Troy, but I just dont think that one person can controll and enforce EVERY law. If the president didnt have that Cheif Executive role, we would still have police on the streets and judges in courts making sure laws are followed.
