This week in class, we will be studying the events associated with America's founding: its role as a British colony, the events leading up to the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, the failed Articles of Confederation, and the eventual development of the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Take a moment to imagine what would have happened if the American Revolution had never taken place.  Suppose Parliament accepted the American colonists' cries of "No Taxation Without Representation!"  Think about the colonists having no reason to meet in Philadelphia as either the first or second Continental Congresses or needing to issue the Declaration of Independence.

How different do you think the United States of America in 2012 would be had the American Revolution never happened?

I think if America didnt have the Revolution, it wouldnt be too bad. I dont think we would have our constitution, our bill of rights, or our laws. But I also believe we wouldnt have had to go to war with other countries, there wouldnt have been a Civil War, & we probably wouldnt be in so much trouble economically.

America would be different. Just about everything would be terrible. Not too many things would have changed from back then.

If America did not have the revolution, it would be different. I don't think that we would have any of the things we have today like the constitution or the bill of rights. I think that we would have things similar but different.

If we didnt have the American Revolution I think the U.S will be a
terrible place achully, I think no where will be safe to live. Without
rules and reuglation and a pass of settlement U.S will in fact be out
of control and un-selfbeing (if thats a word)

I think America wouldn't be so bad without revolution. We do have all them other laws that were passed for this county. I also think it wouldn't really have hurt us economically.

Everything for our country would be much different. It would be completely controlled differently. All of our laws wouldn't be the same, our countries products would be different, and the costs of them as well.

I don't think it'd be that bad.  Although I think there would be a lot of things that end up happening differently, different isn't necessarily a bad thing.  It would be interesting to see how everything is affected, and what does or doesn't happen as a result.

I don't think that it would be terrible. Different yes, but not terrible. I think things would have changed just not like they did.

I think that our country would be very different if we never had the revolution. I think that we would never have the constitution or anything which would change the country alot. People would be doing alot of bad things and i think it would be hard to live in this country without the constitution or the bill of rights.

I think that if the American Revolution never happened then we would be speaking British. I don't think that Spanish would be our second language. I also don't think that we would have been involved in any wars that France has gotten us into. Simply because we would be an English territory.

i agree with you Skye. I think we would still have things such as the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Skye, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the United States not being safe.  There would still be all the laws and regulations necessary to make it overall as safe as possible without compromising excessive free will.  In my opinion, crimes would pretty much be on about the same level of severity as they already are.  People don't suddenly forget how to run things just because there's a different kind of leadership.
