I have the same issue (app opens, spinning ball cursor, app not responding). I stumbled on a partial* workaround when I used "CleanMyMacX" to 'reset' the Delicious Library 3 app. This returns Delicious Library 3 to its 'initial' installed state by removing any working files created by the app. When you open it, it asks you if you want to create a simple library using the included example. You can then import the library3 file from the backup or the existing library3 file.

With the continued freezing of this application under Ventura, I decided to try something a little different. When opening the application, I went immediately to the menu bar and changed the view of my library from "View as Bookshelf" to "View as List". So far the application remains stable; however, if I change it back to "View as Bookshelf", the application freezes. Once I reopen the application and change to list, the app remains stable and continues to reopen in list view with no problems.

Ventura made Monster Delicious library 3.9.3 unusable, I just a get a spinning wheel of death for many basic functions in the app. Ventura is the first OSX that seems to have a lousy track of backward compatibility problems. I've sent tons of crash report and yet Ventura 13.0.1 came and didn't fix a thing in this app. The app is still listed in the app store and is a universal binary, isn't Apple doing QA for this ?

Delicious Library has effectively been abandonware for some time, and it's a shame Ventura seems to have killed it. The developer no longer supports the app. I'm not sure the issues to get it running are insurmountable, but the display of the items on shelves is pixellated, and it locks up on open. Might be as simple as permissions, but I've tried full disk access to no avail. Luckily I've been backing up my Delicious Library database via CSV exports, but I'll miss the scanner app and UI. The DL internal database (/Library/Containers/com.delicious-monster.library3/Data/Library/Application Support/Delicious Library 3) is a SQL database I was able to open with SQLiteStudio, and the table "ZABSTRACTMEDIUM" contains your library. You can export it as CSV and tweez it in Excel. Good luck.

I don't know what moving the program what would entail, but if you are able to install Delicious Library 3 on your laptop, you can replace the internal database files with the ones from your desktop machine. In the folder "/Library/Containers/com.delicious-monster.library3/Data/Library/Application Support/Delicious Library 3" there are three files labeled "Delicious Library Items". If you copy those to the corresponding folder of the new install, the program should open with your previous library. Good luck. I'm still holding out hope someone figures out how to get the program running under Ventura.

This does mean that the barcode scanner app needs to be on the same network as the Mac it's syncing with, but it doesn't need to be on the same LAN in order to scan your library. Users can take an iPhone out of range, to work, to a friend's house, or anywhere else to scan a stack of books and the app will store the information until it gets back on the network where the library Mac is located. Once it sees the Mac in question, it syncs the stored data back with the original library.

Delicious Library 3 comes with even more features, like the ability to publish your library to the Web or the ability to merge more than one scanned library together without duplicating items. ("Different people can scan different books and merge all those files together," Shipley said after telling a story about a real-life library that wanted to crowdsource the scanning of its collection.) DL2's "smart shelves," which allow you to place a set of rules so you only see certain books or DVDs on certain shelves, can now coexist with hand-arranged shelves. There are ways to save your sort criteria so you can reuse the searches easily.

Update: Was playing around and if I pick View as List under the View menu it appears to work. I get the main window. Not sure if everything functions but I can see my library. If I pick View as Bookshelf, it breaks. This might be a workaround for now.

I have what I consider a vast book collection. I'd never quantified its contents except to observe the growing physical space it occupied in my home, not always knowing how it was doing so. A few times, I bought a book twice, not realizing I already had a copy on my "to-read" shelf. I decided it would be a worthwhile undertaking to make some sort of index of my library, not only as reference but also as a backup: should my books ever be lost or damaged, I'll know what to replace.

Running a restaurant is no easy task. And while libraries do a lot of things amazingly well, being a restaurant operator on top of all that is a tricky proposition. But when has a challenge ever stopped a library?

Like adding toppings on a pizza, strategic community partnerships offer exciting opportunities for #EngagedLibraries and their users. The possibilities for both are endless. After talking with Jason Kucsma at Toledo Lucas County Public Library, I wanted to highlight how one of their amazing community partnerships is bringing new flavor to their library.

Delicious Library allows you to import, browse, and share all your books, movies, music, and video games with Delicious Library. Run your very own library from your home or office using our impossibly simple interface. Delicious Library's digital shelves act as a visual card-catalog.

A scan of a barcode is all Delicious Library needs to add an item to your digital shelves, downloading tons of info from the Internet like the author, release date, current value, description, and even a high-resolution picture of the cover. Import your entire library using our exclusive full-speed iSight video barcode scanner, our Flic Wireless Laser Bar Code Scanner, or (the slow way) entering the titles by hand. Once you have all of your items in your Mac, you can browse though your digital shelves, check stuff out to friends using Apple's built-in Address Book and calendar, and find new items to read, watch, and play using Library's recommendations.

Each time you acquire a new book, input the ISBN information into the app, and the software will create a new entry in your library with the information it downloads about the book from Amazon.com and other book databases.

The events offered the McGill community a warm welcome to the Library while providing the opportunity to interact with staff from different branches and departments on topics as wide-ranging as interlibrary loans, Library collections, electronic resources, branches and much more. After visiting two stations, students received a free ice cream. What fun!

Whether embarking on a new lifestyle, looking to reduce animal consumption, or aiming for a more sustainable diet, there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to experimenting with vegan and vegetarian recipes. Starred titles are recommended for all library collections.

Having stated that this book has a great impact I could go on to add that it is a visually exciting book, has numerous good ideas and examples of practice, and I still enjoy dipping into it, and for those reasons it would be a justifiable purchase for almost any library in which the managers wish to be challenged intellectually. Yet I reserve something in my comments. Much as I admire the scope of this work that must have absorbed a huge amount of time and energy in its creation, and I enjoy the challenging ideas to be found in parts of it, I remain doubtful if there is any big message contained in this that the profession has actually missed. Yes, it is easy to forget about the mission from time to time, but most managers know what it is. Putting into graphic form that which could be represented as tables does not change the concepts, it just makes them more approachable by those who learn visually. Having had my say, I still recommend this book.
