Hey Folks,
Just thought I'd pass along a note from Ben Nelson, of Asheville Square
dance, plus a plug for the next few contra dances nearby. Ben Nelson
helps organize monthly square dances in Asheville. They sound like fun -
community dance w/ some homegrown local old time music. Ben's note is
given below. Also, if you're up for contra dancing to some fine live
music check out the dances coming up in the next few weeks
(harvestmoonfolk.org):

Feb 21 River Falls 8:00-11:00 Fiddlewitch w/ Keith Cornette Eustis
Feb 25 Greenville YWCA 7:30-10:00 Appalachian Storm w/ Dean Snipes
Feb 28 River Falls 8:00-11:00 Corn Stalkers w/ Cis Hinkle [Hot old
time from some youngsters]
March 1 River Falls - SUNDAY CONTRA DANCE 2:00-5:00 *
*InexplicaBillies w/ Cis Hinkle [Old time w/ a twist]
Note: all these dances will have beginner sessions 30 minutes prior to
dance time!!
Thanks! David

/Dear all,

I wanted to let you know that you're warmly invited to the Asheville
Appalachian Square Dance this Sunday, February 22, from 7:30 - 10 PM.
This dance features figures traditional to the southern Appalachians,
including squares, big circles, and visiting couple dances. The dance is
held on the last Sunday of each month at the Asheville Arts Center, a
beautiful former church that is now home to a wonderful wood floor,
great acoustics, and the kind of fun that can only be had at a small
community dance!

Frederick Park will call the February dance, with music provided by Jet,
featuring the fine duo of Jack Devereux on fiddle and Sean Sutherland on
guitar. Bring $5, a snack to share, and an appetite for great live music
and good dancing energy! All dances will be taught, and dancers of all
levels are welcome.

The Asheville Arts Center is located at 308 Merrimon Ave., Asheville,
NC. Directions are available at www.ashevilleartscenter.com. For more
information about the square dance, please visit
www.myspace.com/ashevillesquaredance, or email
ashevilles...@yahoo.com.
Spring Square Dance dates: March 29, April 26, and May 31.

Thanks -- hope to see you on the dance floor!

Best,
Ben Nelson
