Thought I'd kick off the group with something fun.  As I mentioned in OldTownMoms, I live at Meridian Carlyle. I have two sons, ages almost 3 and almost 10 months.  I'm an Alexandria native, but left after college for NYC and moved back in early 2011.  So basically I had no idea what this whole Carlyle area was about since it wasn't built up till after I moved away (although i had been to Whole Foods and Hoffman on visits home).  I still don't think I know the best-kept secrets of this area very well.   Is there a playground closer than Jefferson-Houston, for example?

I think my favorite part of living here is the walking distance to the historic section of Old Town, but if I'm really honest, it's the proximity to Starbucks when I need caffeine  and Whole Foods when I've forgotten something at the grocery store.  My only complaint is the lack of a drugstore within walking distance!

Feel free to add to the list of favorite things.  Or start your own discussions!  Welcome to the group everyone!

Hi Di,

Thanks for starting this new group. We have been living in Carlyle Square since we moved up here from Miami in 2007.  I agree, we do need a drug store closer to us, but having 7 Eleven in my building helps with those emergencies in the middle of the night. I have a 7 month little girl named Paloma Skye and she is my world.  I look forward to meeting new mommies in this group.

Cheers!
