to Carlton in Lindrick history
I am doing some research for my gramp, Alan Stubbs who lived with his
parents, in Carlton-in-Lindrick in the late 1920s-early 1930s. He
witnessed an horrific road accident, aged 10 years-old. He had been to
the village shop, around the time the local school was closing for the
day. He helped a younger girl across the road and there was a terrible
accident involving a lorry I believe. At least two primary aged
children were killed. He has never forgotten it and has even been to
the churchyard to look for the graves, to pay his respects/gain some
closure I think.
He never found the graves, but since myself and my husband moved to
Nottinghamshire, he's been asking if we could find out through the
local newspaper or through any local people, whether there is anyone
living in C-I-L that remembers, as he does, that fateful day. Can
anyone help us out/point us in the right direction please? Many, many
thanks. Mrs Rachel Gray (nee Stubbs)
