to Carlton in Lindrick history
I have a sad story in my family history which took place at Carlton in
Lindrick during the 1860 and 1870’s. It involves the birth of
illegitimate twins to a teenage girl and their subsequent separation
and changes in name.

Referring to the map layout (circa 1889) can anyone tell me whether
the New Bell Inn in North Carlton still exists in any form? It is hard
to spot on the map but it is in tiny writing starting just above the
final ‘N’ of “North Carlton” written on the map.

Also, I’m interested in references to Costhorpe which I think is
Costhorpe Farm. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thank you

Hi
It's my son who set up the website, although he now lives in Bath. I live
in Carlton, and I think I can answer both your queries. I have a small book
about Carlton, which mentions the history of the Blue Bell. I am happy to
copy this info. and post it to you, if you wish. Also I know a bit about
Costhorpe farm.
If you wanted me to do this then let me have your postal
address, and I'll get on with it. If not, then send me an E-Mail and we'll
try something else.
Best wishes
Mike Mills
