TheEngineering Village @ The Commons is an Academic Residential Experience District for approximately 800 engineering students. This residential experience is designed to be an extension to the classroom by offering academic and social support to engineering students who live in the community.
Within the Engineering Village @ The Commons, the College of Engineering offers two living learning communities (LLC): the General Engineering LLC and the Engineering Honors Community of Scholars (ECOS) LLC.
To participate in the Engineering Village @ The Commons, students must: 1) have applied for and received admission to the College of Engineering or 2) have a major within the College of Engineering. Please note the following about our community:
The College of Engineering also partners with the Academic Success Center (ASC) and the Math Learning Center to provide students with academic support services (peer tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, etc.) for math, chemistry, physics and engineering courses. WHO: The Engineering LLC at FSU is for FSU students who have an interest in pursuing careers in biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial and mechanical engineering.

Indicate your preference to live in the Engineering LLC when you complete your Housing Application. Assignments for Living Learning Communities will be completed in conjunction with all housing assignments.

Veracity Engineering is a leading provider of ATC communications systems design, implementation, and integration. We support the implementation of critical communications infrastructure programs including FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS), Next Generation Air/Ground Communications (NEXCOM), and FAA NextGen Data Communications (DataComm). Whether on the ground or in the air, Veracity Engineering plays a vital role in developing and maintaining the complex NextGen communications strategy, technical architecture, and program governance within both domestic and international airspace.
Mr. Bekkers holds Masters degrees in both Applied Economics and Business Administration from Northwestern University and the University of Antwerp. He lives in Ashburn, VA with his wife, with whom he enjoys traveling and home remodeling.
Prior to founding Veracity Engineering, Mr. Tran was personally responsible for the management of several large scale and highly visible programs for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These efforts included supplying program management and systems engineering support for mission-critical air traffic control communication, surveillance, and flight planning systems. Mr. Tran has provided technical consulting for major corporations such as Nextel International, designing, implementing, and optimizing cellular, trunk radio and microwave networks.
Mr. Tran is an active member and sponsor of various non-profit organizations that promote diversity and leadership training. These organizations include the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) and the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA). He is one of the founding members of the FAPAC Business Advisory Partnership (BAP).
Students in the PE LLCs will enroll in SPRK 010: Inclusive Innovation in the Fall semester and in ENGR 091: Professional Development in the Spring semester. They will have the option to enroll in ENGR 096: Human-Centered Research & Design in the spring semester. In addition to taking these courses, students in the PE LLCs will engage in communal learning and career development experiences such as workshops, panel discussions and collaborative projects. The PE LLC in academic year 2024-2025 will be affiliated with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), whose members will provide peer support for first-year students to socially adjust and academically succeed as engineering majors. Please note that members of the LLC are required to attend professional development events outside of class. These events include workships, talks, panels, etc.
The City of Colstrip, MT had a challenge. The primary source of employment, the Colstrip Power Plant, is on schedule to shut down two of their four major units by July of 2022. Hundreds of people will be impacted by the closure, and the community needed a strategic plan to provide guidance for diversification for residents.

A US 93 bypass around the west side of Kalispell Montana reached fruition in 2016 with the completion of the final segment and largest road construction project ever completed by the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT). KLJ provided professional services from 2003 to 2016 for 13 separate construction projects for this combined $100 million infrastructure project.

Foster School of Business, the Business LLC Community members gain personal and professional skill development that is core to the Foster School: critical and strategic thinking, problem solving, collaboration and leadership. Residents have opportunities to engage with other residents, participate in activities and events, connect with Foster School staff, faculty, business leaders and alumni, and develop their leadership skills in their community.
In partnership with the UW College of Engineering, LLC members engage with staff and residents who share an interest in engineering, participate in activities and events with UW College of Engineering staff and faculty, business leaders and alumni, and develop their leadership skills in their community. Residents in this LLC have access to Area 01, a maker space where students can use the Dabble Lab which features 3-D printers, a laser cutter, art and design tools.
