We have now seen a few weathering magazines from Ammo and it is good to see they are keeping up the same high quality. There are 70 pages of glossy high quality paper in an A4 format, all in colour. As the title would suggest this edition concentrates on paint fading as seen on anything from aircraft, through AFVs to space craft. This title features tractors, tanks, submarines, aircraft, railroad rolling stock, cars and space craft; with techniques show to achieve the faded look. Different products are show , though as the title suggests Ammo products feature. One article shown does follow on from a previous magazine weathering article, and while it does show the fading readers of this title alone will not get the full benefit. I hope this is not a sigh of more articles being split over more than one title.

The Weathering Magazine line's newest issue, number 34, is devoted to urban settings. Four of the six articles provide step by step methods for building a variety of structures and weathering them, along with vehicles and a jet plane. The other two articles show urban camouflage on a tank and a Gundam figure.

I really like the layout, the wonderful photos and the step by step nature of this magazine. I can see myself referring to the magazine many times for inspiration on developing some interesting camouflage paint schemes on future armor projects.


From a high level, we can easily make two observations regarding the complex issue of internal control over financial reporting (ICFR). First, effective ICFR is a keystone of investor confidence. Fresh and weathered biotites have been studied using Mssbauer, chemical, and X-ray analytical techniques. In the Mssbauer spectra the complete interference of both low-spin ferric lines by one of the high-spin ferrous lines and the existence of high-spin ferric iron in the weathered biotite has been demonstrated. In view of this interference, which appears to be common, allowances must be made in spectral interpretation if chemical analysis reveals ferric iron to be present in detectable amounts. Hypothetical extension of the weathering trends observed suggests that high-spin ferric iron is the only stable iron species in the end product.


During weathering marked loss of ferrous iron occurs, whereas the ferric iron content remains approximately constant. As a result of the instability of ferrous iron in the weathering environment there is a significant rearrangement of the octahedral layer.

Cambridge University Press 2019. The late Miocene is a time of strong environmental change in SW Asia. Himalayan foreland stable isotope data show a shift in the dominant vegetation of the flood plains away from trees and shrubs towards more C4 grasslands at a time when oceanic upwelling increased along the Oman margin. We present integrated geochemical and colour spectral records from International Ocean Discovery Program Site U1456 in the eastern Arabian Sea to reconstruct changing chemical weathering and erosion, as well as relative humidity during this climatic transition. Increasing hematite/goethite ratios derived from spectral data are consistent with long-term drying after c. 7.7 Ma. Times of dry conditions are largely associated with weaker chemical alteration measured by K/Rb and reduced coarse clastic flux, constrained by Si/Al and Zr/Al. A temporary phase of increased humidity from 6.3 to 5.95 Ma shows a reversal to stronger weathering and erosion. Wetter conditions can result in both more and less alteration due to the nonlinear relationship between weathering rates, precipitation and sediment transport times. Trends in relative aridity do not follow existing palaeoceanographic records and are not apparently linked to changes in Tibetan or Himalayan elevation, but more closely correlate with global cooling. An apparent opposing trend in the humidity evolution in the Indus compared to southern China, as tracked by spectrally estimated hematite/goethite, likely reflects differences in the topography in the Indus compared to the Pearl River drainage basins, as well as the generally wetter climate in southern China.


For many years, Poly Canyon served as an iconic precedent for Cal Poly's "Learn by Doing" philosophy, but over time, the condition of the structures had deteriorated due weathering and vandalism. In turn, the Canyon Days Committee was formed in 2014 with a commitment to preserve Cal Poly history by maintaining Poly Canyon.


The committee is entirely student led with Spencer Dilley serving as the current chair. Our faculty advisor, Associate Dean Kevin Dong, provides invaluable help.
