Roll Call: Jenkinson, Short, Pollock, Tyrrell

Surnames I am searching are Jenkinson, Short, Pollock, Tyrrell.

 

First of all Jane, thank you for all you do---I have learned so much about Ireland and research from your many sites. So here’s to you:   May the lilt of Irish laughter lighten every load.

I have parish records of a marriage between John Jenkinson and Ellen Short in Clonsast Parish(Church of England) from Kings County in 29 Nov. 1834.  Records were actually in County Kildare, Clonsast Parish.

 

Ellen parents were James and Mary (Pollock) Short. Her date of birth was 14 Dec 1812, Clonsast Parish, Kings County.  Documented parish records from County Kildare, Clonsast Parish.

 

John and Ellen children’s birth records are also documented in County Kildare, Clonsast Parish records.  Thomas(1835), Elizabeth(1838), Jane(1840), Ellen(1843), Amelia and Susanna(twins1845) and Mary(1849).

 

Ellen Short had a sister Amelia who married a William Tyrrell.  By 1860 Ellen and Amelia lived next door to each other in US census records.  I have nothing other than that on the Tyrrell family

 

The Jenkinson family arrived Boston Jan 1850.

 

I can get no further back than the above info.  I have hit a brick walls.  I cannot find info on the following:

 

1. a birth record or parents of my John Jenkinson  (believe he was born 1793)  earliest parish records of above are 1804. Could there be some other parish or diocese to search?
2. Info on the James Short or Mary (Pollock) Short, other than some records of other daughters births.
3. Marriage of Amelia Short to William Tyrell.  (Catholic or Church of Ireland)
4. Family lore states John Jenkinson collected revenues (for whom?—government or landlord?) I have tried to research this and have come up with a lot of dead ends.
5. I believe but can not prove that both the Jenkinson and Short families were transplants from the island of Great Britain,  Jenkinson family from England and Short family from Scotland---Both families were Church of Ireland. But can’t find any records to prove this.
6. Family lore also states that John Jenkinson had a sister named Matilda who married and immigrated to Australia.  Where and who did she marry?

 

Any ideas, suggestions greatly appreciated.  I know the answers are out there and I just haven’t found the right places to look.
