Sorry folks, I've been so busy doing other things this last year to
take much notice of this list.....
and today, when I did, I found there were a bunch of subsription
applications which I hadn't realised were waiting for approval, I
thought that at least I had managed to keep up with those!
Then, when I looked at the number of members - I got another surprise,
71 in all - that's a fair few.
So, now, I'm making a roll call post. I've seen role calls on other
lists and it's a way of people getting to see who is looking for whom
from where, and also having your name interests on the internet and
perhaps other people finding them.
With a roll call, you don't have to give your whole family history,
just the names of the people who left Ireland and where they left from
or where you think they left from, also the year and maybe their
children's names. If you have more than one family, then try to make
a different post for each surname, that makes it easier for someone
else interested in that surname to pick up the info they want from
your post.
The roll call might cause the list to receive a lot of emails, but, it
will only last for a day or two. As the list is moderated to try and
make sure we receive no spam emails then the emails that those of you
who have never made a post before send in will not appear immediately,
they will only go to the list after I approve them, so depending on
where you are in the world relative to me (in Dublin) it might be the
next day before you see your post.
I noticed that someone is interested in Hyland. In the past I've
collected a lot of Hyland info for a friend. I can't remember if you
said your Hylands were from Borris or Ballacolla, but the Ballacolla
Hylands turn up inthe Aghaboe parish registers which is wher the
Borris Hylands probably also are as well up to a point.
So, start talking and lets see if I have anythjng that might be of
interest to you - and before I forget, welcome to the list
Jane
