Back in December or 2022, I sat down to plan all my content for 2023 with my biggest project being specifically for Halloween. I thought it would be super fun (and a challenge) to design 31 mini patterns for the 31 days of October. And to make things even harder on myself they would all have a theme to follow.
In between working on other patterns I planned to release earlier in the year like Kelvin the Temp Snake (Jan.) and Sia the Strawberry Squid (Feb.), I started designing the central pattern for this collection: Cassandra the Cat.
My testers saved my butt by getting Benjamin tested quickly and my tech editor, Candice Klyne (check out her website here) was an angel by going over this huge project in less than 2 weeks. They all helped me turn 11 patterns into a comprehensive ebook that I am so incredibly proud of.
The Together We Read: AU/NZ digital book club connects readers through participating Australian and New Zealand public libraries with the same ebook for two weeks and only requires a valid library card to get started. This free program is facilitated by OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for ebooks, audiobooks and magazines and creator of the award-winning Libby app.
The Cozy Mystery Book Blast event, like other smaller free e-book events, is one of the many times of the year when authors share their e-books for free. You can think of it as a Stuff Your Kindle Day, but only for mystery and mystery-adjacent books. Most authors partaking are indie or relatively new. These events are usually run by book blogs, in this case, the Cozy Mystery Book Club.
Like Stuff Your Kindle Day, these types of events are not necessarily only for Kindle readers. Any type of e-reader will do. In fact, most of these can be read on your phone, laptop, or tablet. The free e-books are sorted into three categories, and you can see the full list of e-books when you click on them:
