In our discussion, we explored the fact that the Biological Species
Concept is one with the fewest drawbacks that applies to the largest
variety of organisms (with the exception of asexuals). However, we
also discussed the fact that the Morphological Species Concept is the
one actually employed in systematics among those that work on both
extant and extinct organisms. In general, it seems that the unique
evolutionary histories of many groups might mean that one universal
species concept cannot be applied.
