CariFin Cross Fit Challenge is made up of five interesting, intense activities: Air Squats, Box Jumps, Burpees, Push-ups, Zig Zag Runs.
Rules and guidelines for doing the five exercises are as follows:
1.
Squats – The top position or standing position full
extensions of hips and knees. Bottom
position, hips below the crease of the knees.
2. Box Jump – To jump on top of the box you can use a two foot take off, a one-foot take off or step up. Once you land we must see full extension of the hips and knees. Step down from the box by jumping down with both feet or step down to complete the rep. The height of the boxes to be used in the competition are not determined as yet, but boxes are usually 12, 15, 18, 20, 24 inches. In the main event men jump a higher level than the women.
3. Burpees – Start in the squat position, then squat thrust (kick back foot), chest to the floor (push up), back up (frog jump) and then jump squat (clasp hands over head).
4. Push-Ups – Start out in the plank position, lower the body to the ground. Shoulders and hips go down together (hips are not dropped before shoulders) then go down all the way until your whole body is on the ground. The whole body has to rise as one unit; the shoulders cannot come off before your hips. Prescription shoulders and hips must rise and lower at the same rate at this point.
5. Ziz Zag Run – This is basically a sprint and is a Zig Zag run test for power, speed, quickness, and body control. A course is plotted and cones are used to mark it off. The runners need to go around the cones and in many cases it is a 50-meter course. We are still considering this measurement.
A video is provided on our website explaining the movements and further videos would follow giving more details on proper standards, rules and better techniques.
Also your institution representative would be updated accordingly with the requirements for the competition. We are looking for five members to represent each institution in this event. Each institution needs to say who is on their five-member team.
