  • Summary

    You will serve as a KNOWLEDGE MANAGER in the Commander U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (COMUSNAVCENT) and Fifth Fleet (C5F) of COMMANDER, US NAVAL FORCES CENTRAL COM. The selectee for this position serves for an 18-month unaccompanied or 24-month accompanied tour in Manama, Bahrain. The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week).

    Responsibilities

    • You will plan communication initiatives to strengthen awareness of knowledge sharing benefits, behaviors, processes, procedures and tools.
    • You will establish long-range plans, goals, or objectives for the work of a multi-level organization.
    • You will create knowledge management information sharing policies to be implemented for an organization.
    • You will coordinate with other staff across organizations to ensure optimal use of resources, sharing of best practices, and synchronization of efforts.
    • You will liaison with subordinate commands and organizations to stay abreast of new technologies that may impact knowledge management architecture or program.

    Qualifications

    Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing knowledge management and information sharing processes, programs or initiatives; 2) Utilizing Knowledge Management technologies (e.g. NKO/DKO, Collaboration at Sea (CAS), Microsoft SharePoint) to help move an organization toward a knowledge-centric culture; 3) Accomplishing knowledge audits that resulted in greater organizational knowledge retention and 4) Leading a Knowledge Management initiative to demonstrate the results of process or organizational improvement.     Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
