Maine Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR)

IFE-SURE Summer Undergraduate Research Experience

The IFE-STAR ecosystem coordinates a national Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE) research experience for undergraduates enrolled in US universities and colleges. Students who are accepted into this program will have opportunities to do IFE summer research at partnering organizations and universities across the nation.

Applications will be shared with the research institutions based on the student’s selected interest within the application. Each institution will independently reach out to selected applicants as they fill their summer research openings. Financial support is available through each institution. Applications are open from October 14 to January 9 and available online

Introducing "ORA Navigator": Find Answers Faster

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) is pleased to introduce ORA Navigator, a new FAQBot for fast, accurate answers on sponsored projects and research administration.

This powerful semantic search-based information-retrieval (IR) tool uses a curated knowledge base—no external searches—to provide reliable info aligned with university policies on proposals, compliance, post-award, and more. It avoids false or ""hallucinated"" answers.

A Feedback Form is available below the bot. ORA reviews submissions monthly to make the bot more robust over time.

Access ORA Navigator via the ""Quick Access Resources"" banner on the ORA website and let us know your thoughts!"

MSGC NASA Ideas Lab Workshop
December 5 • 10 a.m. •  Fireside Lounge, Randall Student Center, University of Maine at Augusta • Additional information is available online. • Email um.s...@maine.edu to register.
Learn how to link your research to Space and get NASA funding. For this iteration of the MSGC Ideas Lab, we are inviting all researchers aligned with MSGC, NASA research priorities, or other space-related research interests. Please arrive prepared to discuss your area of expertise, but with no expectation of an already-formulated topic. NASA and the Maine Space Grant Consortium fund this program, and one or more collaborative projects created through this process will have access to funding through MSGC for seed grants of $25,000 per project. Travel mileage from your university to the University of Maine at Augusta will be paid by UM Space. RSVP by Wednesday, November 21, 2025, to um.s...@maine.edu. Previous recipients of seed grant funds from MSGC Ideas Lab are also welcome to attend. Presented by the UMaine SPACE Initiative. Contact: um.s...@maine.edu.
