Hi Gerry,

I just wanted to pass along this opportunity for someone interested in getting a Master’s degree (see info below).

The University of Rhode Island Exotic Animal Behavior Lab (Richard lab), in partnership with the Roger Williams Park Zoo, is seeking a highly motivated graduate student (M.S.) to join its team in Fall 2024 to study the behavioral endocrinology of the imperiled New England cottontail in a conservation breeding program.  The successful candidate should be interested in investigating reproductive behavior with the aim of maximizing the success of the breeding program, which is an important strategy in the recovery of the species.  The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated problem-solving skills, a basic statistical background, and an ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a research team.  Applicants should possess a B.S. or B.A. degree, ideally in biology, animal science, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will receive a two-year graduate assistantship consisting of academic year ('24-'25 and '25-'26) and summer funding (summer '25) plus a tuition waiver. Interested candidates should send a CV and letter of interest to Dr. Justin Richard at jt_ri...@uri.edu.  In addition, interested candidates must have a valid driver's license and must be accepted into URI's College of the Environment and Life Sciences graduate program (application details at https://www.uri.edu/programs/program/biological-environmental-sciences-ms/ and the Ecology and Ecosystem Sciences subdiscipline).
