Dear Dr.  Hostert,

Good morning.  I hope you are having an enjoyable summer.  With the Fall semester approaching, I was wondering if you could forward the below information to students at your school who have an interest in the veterinary field.  At the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine we are offering a few exciting online undergraduate and graduate courses in the upcoming Fall semester that are specifically geared towards students interested in Veterinary Medicine.   Students at other Colleges and Universities can sign up for these classes.

For the Fall term, classes at the University of Florida run from August 23rd-December 6TH.  *Note that we would be willing to shift the start date of the classes for you, if Fall classes at your home Institution start at a different time*

The Cat Class (VME-3002) is an online undergraduate course (3 credits) specifically designed for undergraduate students planning careers in Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Technical Programs. Students that successfully complete the class will learn about number of topics, including anatomy, neuroscience, urology, endocrinology, reproduction, various feline medical case studies, shelter medicine, and health of the cat.  For more information about this class or enrollment contact the Course Director,   Dr. Patrick Larkin (pmla...@ufl.edu).

The Dog Class (VME-3001) is an online undergraduate course (3 credits) specifically designed for undergraduate students interested in learning more about dogs, especially those planning careers in Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Technical Programs. Students will be introduced to a number of topics, including evolution, domestication, anatomy, biology, role in society, physiology, behavior, and health of the dog. For more information about this class or enrollment contact the Course Director,   Dr. Patrick Larkin (pmla...@ufl.edu).

Students enrolled at any College or University can take this course. *This class is also available at the graduate level and can be included in a graduate certificate*For more information about the class or the graduate certificate,  contact Dr. Iske Larkin (ivla...@ufl.edu).

Marine Mammal Biology (VME-6014) is an online graduate course that will provide graduate students with a detailed overview of marine mammal species including cetaceans, sirenians, pinnipeds, mustelids, and ursids. Each module will broadly explore a particular ecological, biological, or physiological theme related to the study of marine mammals, including taxonomy and biodiversity, diving physiology, thermoregulation, foraging ecology, and reproduction as well as the many conservation and management issues faced by different marine mammal species.
