The deadline has been extended for applications to the Aquaculture Experiential Opportunities for Undergraduate Students (AquEOUS) Fellowship, a USDA Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates (REEU) hosted by the Aquaculture Research Institute (ARI) and the University of Maine’s Wabanaki Center, in collaboration with community stakeholders.
This unique, paid fellowship offers undergraduate students the chance to apply Two-Eyed Seeing (bringing together the strengths of Indigenous Knowledge and Western Science) to real-world challenges in aquaculture, using the University of Maine’s world-class aquaculture facilities. Fellows will be mentored by interdisciplinary faculty and Indigenous Knowledge Keepers.
Fellows will choose from a range of aquaculture research focus areas and participate in hands-on projects while attending seminars, field trips, and workshops exploring Indigenous Knowledge, applied aquaculture science, and science communication.
Room and board and a $6,000 stipend are provided at the Darling Marine Center in Walpole, Maine, for 10 weeks (June 1–August 8).
We invite students and faculty to learn more about the AquEOUS Fellowship and apply by February 22, 2026. Please share this opportunity with anyone who may be interested.
