Hi!

MCHT and DCC are partnering with GMRI to engage community members in high tide and coastal flooding monitoring by making observations during the highest monthly tides in February and March. There are monitoring sites in Machias we will be visiting this Sunday, February 11th and are asking for volunteers to join. We are meeting at the Machias Chamber of Commerce at 10am this Sunday and again in March on Sunday the 10th. We’ll go over the protocols for making observations and visit the monitoring sites (all within walking distance of the Chamber) and make observations at high tide. It would be great to get some UMM students involved! I’ve included a press release we sent out and I believe there have been some social media posts from DCC and MCHT as well. Please join if you’re able and interested!

Here is a link to the GMRI website with more information about the project. https://investigate.gmri.org/project/coastal_flooding/

Thanks!
