Subject: Summer Opportunities for students
To: Ellen Hostert <ehos...@maine.edu>, <gze...@maine.edu>

Good morning Ellen and Gerry,

I wanted to let you know that we have more volunteer opportunities for students this year who would like to gain some experience in the woods or on the water. We have a loon monitoring program and a trail and campsite building service project that we are actively looking for people to help with. Both of these would not be extensive commitments, a few days throughout the summer whenever they are available would be great. Please see the link below for our volunteer section of the website that has many more opportunities as well and will be updated over time with more details and different projects.

I know last year you mentioned funding was important for the students so I wanted to let you know that I secured $5,000 to employ a few students to help with curtesy boat checks on Big Lake as part of the mitigation process for invasive milfoil. Part time (mostly holidays and weekends) $20 an hour, and training will be included. Students will be able to pick which days they want to come and how many hours they decide to work. If you would like to pass along the information that would be great! They can contact me for more details and I’d be happy to get them set up with the free training.

Best,
