Yesterday at around 1:30 pm, I got nice aroma of food from our pantry area…My ‘olfactory bulb’ (part of the brain that detects smells) starting getting active and my mind started drifting to guessing the lunches our team get in their lunch boxes…Chicken Vindaloo (we have Goans)?...no no…Chicken Gassi (and Manglaoreans).. no no Aloo Capsicum?…no no Bhindi…yeah that’s the one…..!

Just when my mind was savoring the different gravies (my own khayali pulav!), I got a call….”Hi Rochelle, my name is Sweta. Are you looking for a job change?”….Baam! This opening line, just snatched away the lunches I was just about getting ready to devour!...what? looking for a job change? I said to myself….how cold that is! And my not-so-heavy mind started yet again drifting on the numerous such calls getting made daily, cold, ice cold….what a colossal waste of time; that of the caller and that of the callee……

I mustered enough courage and said “Hi Sweta, thanks for asking, no I am not looking for a job change. But may I speak to you for a few minutes?” I said and she said “Sure”.  “Sweta what if you had an opportunity to pre-record an opening message, where by you can highlight key elements of the opportunity and the company in a very impactful way? Not only would this approach be more effective for the candidates, but imagine you don’t have to make these cold calls yourself!” Wouldn’t it make all your calls “hot” and you “cool”? Imagine if all your calls went through a microwave first, they’d be consumed immediately, piping hot….and she said “Sounds very interesting. I am fed up with such calling. Actually I am the one looking for job change! Amen. Converted!

Its like a microwave for your phone calls….book your own microwave now
