Christ College was founded in 1969 in Bangalore with a view to blend sacred and
secular education, by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first
indigenous religious congregation of India. The congregation with a membership

care and other sectors of social action which aims at integral development. In
the city of Bangalore, the congregation has various institutions namely,
Dharmaram College - a seminary for the CMIs, Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram - an
ecclesiastical university which confers Degrees in Philosophy, Theology and
Canon Law, Christavidyalaya - a Kannada Medium School, Christ English Medium
School and Christ College.
