I try to use a brush preset that uses a texture (for instance, a halftone brush). This has worked for over a year, but just now the brushes have just stopped working with those textures. They just seem to reset or something right after I select them.
If i select from the tray, that says "brush presets", then they work fine.
Now there is a little icon to open SEEMINGLY the same thing, it looks like it opens the same brush collection, that is named brushes. If selected from there, all kinds of weird things happen. Seemingly the selection at brush presets remains unchanged when you select a different one from the brushes side window, and the two gets mixed.
Sometimes even after you select the same one at brushes that you have at presets locked, the texture mixes stay all messed up.
BUT
Selecting again from the brush presets tray instantly resets the brush as it is supposed to be.
When only the brushes side window was open and i changed brushes there they often lost testure as by default the first smooth brush was open at the hidden brush presets tray, and i could only change the shape at the brush window i was using.
This may sound messy and complicated, but i added pictures to explain.
SELECT FROM BRUSH PRESETS ONLY!
NOT BRUSHES!
When i search for information on this all I get are shitty tutorials that teach how to add the halftone effect onto your photos, I use photoshop to paint and create comics and I'm trying to create an akira inspired comic so someway to apply halftones that isn't incredibly tedious would be nice. I come here as the rest of the internet doesn't seem to have the answer, I'm sure its out there I just couldn't find it. Thanks for any advice or info
Each halftone brush has been perfectly tuned with the other brushes in the set. That means that any halftone dot, line, or tone percentage will paint on top of the others perfectly. That means you can create halftone shading and tonal variation unlike anything on the market.
The brushes are not difficult to install or apply to your work. You only need to download three brush files. One of our objectives in making these brushes was to make a stupid simple alternative to our more complex ColorLab brush packs.
Loved the Duplitone Halftone Brush set. I've been trying to make some digital drawings recently that have that analog look & these retro halftone brushes were perfect! From brush to brush the halftone patterns seamlessly blend with each other. Overlapping brushes was a breeze and didn't look awkward. Saving so much time with clean up.
Thank you for purchasing DupliTone! We're happy the brushes could help you achieve the look you were going for and that you found them easy to use. Thank you for including your artwork and for taking the time to write a review!
Thank you for your purchase and generous review of DupliTone! We appreciate your feedback. Horizontal and vertical halftones might be something we add to a future update. In the meantime you can rotate the line halftones manually after applying them to the canvas.

I went to use a halftone/screentone brush in CC2020 and it's painting solid color or static snow. I reinstalled the brushes, nothing changed. I reset tool preferences, nothing. There's a few similar brushes in the Manga pack, same problem.
This pack was accidentally linked in our 20 Best Procreate Brushes article, as this is actually the Photoshop version of the Vintage Comic Book Halftone Brush pack. We really appreciate you flagging this with us Bram, and I have just popped you over an email to help get you set up with your Procreate brushes straight away, whilst we get this corrected for you on our article page. Our apologies again for any inconvenience caused!

I'm a former Freehand user (very proficient),..then Illustrator (never proficient!), and a bit of Photoshop as well (basic stuff, really),..and I'm hoping someone here can help me. So far,..I really love the Affinity software, but there are some things I cannot figure out or find the info on how to do what it is I'm trying to do. I want to do retro/psychedelic designs,..and I can't figure out for the life of me how I can do a two color halftone effect like the pic enclosed. I want to be able to pick the two colors like the orange and the pink as seen in the attached example, and be able to change them to find the two colors that work best for a particular design. I can't seem to be able to change the color of the positive part of the halftone from black -and also have it's negative portion be transparent to show the second color underneath -am I making any sense? Almost like a duotone -but where I can have two colors that are not from the same hue. The example I've attached should give you an idea of what I want to do. It's a Victor Moscoso poster, and he used two opposite colors on halftones like this a lot. Can anyone recommend how I would go about this? I would appreciate it very much. JH
These methods are not the same as halftone screens you could use in FreeHand or halftoning and using paletted images in Photoshop (as Affinity apps cannot apply true screens and does not support indexed image formats), but you should still be able to achieve similar aesthetic effects using the kinds of workarounds described e.g. in the referred post.
The second method uses Colormap filter of G'Mic plug-in to reduce the number of colors to 2 using adaptive quantization, but applies 100% dithering to simulate halftones. The two tones are colored by using LUT adjustment and picking the colors from a saved image.
The analog halftones are the perfect addition of texture for my designs. The tutorial on how to upload them into Affinity was simple to follow and the tutorial on how to use the textures was helpful. Thank you!
Halftone is the reprographic technique that simulates continuous-tone imagery using dots, varying either in size or in spacing, thus generating a gradient-like effect called halftone gradient. Halftone can also be used to refer specifically to the halftone image that is produced by the halftone process.
Unlike halftone dots, the Ben Day dots are all the same size and the same distance apart. So, both dot styles are arranged on a square grid, but half-tone dots are of different sizes while Ben Day dots are all the same.
