We can enable such a setting via the platform. However, a high-stakes examination is not recommended because the answer is being written outside Mercer Mettl's proprietary test window, where all checks and balances for a secure test are built.
No, students are not allowed to take screenshots of the test and copy/paste when giving the test on a standard browser. In the case of Mettl Secure Browser (MSB), all right-click menu options, function keys, and keyboard shortcuts are disabled.
With the enabling of browsing tolerance, candidates are not allowed to navigate to any other website. We can also define a limit for browsing tolerance. Upon reaching that limit, the candidate's test will be finished automatically. Additionally, we can use MSB to provide the candidate with a lockdown environment which does not allow screen minimization and navigation. The access to search engines and social media accounts is barred inside the MSB, The MSB terminates all browsers and other operating websites upon its launch.
The Mettl Secure Browser disables all external ports, restricting the candidate from connecting any second screen. Also, the browser kills all the screen sharing softwares and websites, thus restricting the candidate from sharing the test window.
Mercer Mettl has come up with a way for educational institutions to configure, monitor, grade, and proctor exams online securely. With the ability to hold exams anytime, anywhere, and receive immediate feedback, we believe that online assessments are the future of education.
HackerEarth: The security and privacy of user data are top priorities at HackerEarth. The platform protects data in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption. Additionally, all user data is kept in secure, constantly monitored data centers with stringent access controls.
I just finished an exam with safe exam browser. One unique case is that one person on our place closed her laptop without exiting the safe exam browser, and then after she realized, she opened her laptop again and closed the SEB.
Then this problem just like what henrik said happened, where the power button cant be clicked, and it shows only "There are currently no power options available". But other than that everything is okay, we have tried registry resetter as well
What about the proctor system Honorlock? I have an exam coming up that would use it and I did some research. Supposedly it prompts you to have only one monitor active, can detect external devices, asks for facial recognition and an ID scan. It also prompts you to do a 360 degree scan of the room you are in and locks external browsers within your computer.
One solution that i can think of(mostly because this was implemented in a test i took once), could be to create a dedicated Java applet that ran as a separate program or as part of a web browser and simply using the various events such as that of the focus and window to proctor the tests.
